Tata Motors CVBU Pune wins National Energy Award

Tata Motors – CVBU, Pimpri won top honors at the “National Award for Excellence in Energy Management – 2004”. Tata Motors – CVBU, Pimpri has been declared as an “EXCELLENT ENERGY EFFICIENT UNIT”.

The recognition was received at the culmination of the “Energy Summit” organized by Confederation of Indian Industry in collaboration with USAID and ICICI Bank from 26 to 30 October 2004 at Chennai. Mr. M B Kulkarni, AGM (Construction, CPED & Environment) along with Mr A S Dethe (CPED) and Mr V Gandhi (AMS) championed the campaign of Tata Motors Ltd. (CVBU), Pimpri at the Energy Summit.

A total of 146 organizations participated in the Energy Summit this year. Of these 4 were Automobile companies, 24 were from the engineering sector, and 10 from Pharma sector and remaining from other industry sectors. The number of participants in the competition has come down by 70 over last year, on account of the increasingly stringent requirements of the competition.

In all 36 organizations were short-listed for the final round at the Energy Summit-2004 on the basis of the application submitted to CII. TATA Motors, Jamshedpur, Bajaj Auto, Pune; Ford India Ltd., Chennai and TATA Motors, CVBU Pune represented the automobile sector.

Mr. M B Kulkarni presented details and case studies of the energy performance at the Energy Summit. Parameters such as 'specific energy consumption', 'energy saving projects', 'continuous comparison with world best automobile companies and benchmarking' and 'innovative work' were given significant weightage in the competition.

By winning this award, Tata Motors – CVBU, Pimpri has emerged as the industry best in energy conservation amongst Indian Automobile companies. This award is another accolade recognizing the efforts of TATA Motors in driving excellence in Energy Management leading towards lowest cost auto manufacturing company.
