TATA MOTORS INTRODUCES THE POWER PACKED 135 PS SAFARI (EXi) PETROL

Tata Motors Limited today expanded its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) range with the introduction of the 135PS Tata Safari EXi Petrol. With this introduction, India's leading SUV, Tata Safari is now available in a wider choice and addresses a desired need of its target customers. The Tata Safari EXi Petrol available only in the top of the line trim level is being priced at Rs.9.35 lac (4X2) and Rs. 10.22 lac (4X4) Ex-showroom Delhi. The new offerings augment the Safari diesel range, which is retailed in the Rs. 7.24 lac - Rs. 11.36 lac price band.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Mr. Rajiv Dube, Vice President-Commercial -Passenger Car Business Unit, Tata Motors said, 'Tata Safari has created a premium position for itself in the Indian market and is the highest selling SUV in the above Rs. 7 lac category. The Safari brand grew by 18.5% last fiscal and is growing by 18% this year. It has always defined new standards for luxury and comfort for vehicles in its class. The Tata Safari petrol is amongst the most powerful SUVs available in the country and offers unmatched content and specifications. It is a perfect blend of technology, performance and safety for its price level.'
The indigenously developed 2.1 litre, 16 valve DOHC petrol engine on the Safari delivers 135 PS at 5630 rpm with a torque output of 195 Nm at 3750 rpm. Besides the 4-valves per cylinder, this petrol engine comes with advanced features such as twin cams, multi-point fuel injection (MPFI) electronically controlled by a state-of-the-art sophisticated engine management system and also boasts of hydraulic tappets, distributor-less ignition, knock sensor, fuel cut-off sensor which cuts off fuel during deceleration, and even a fuel circuit inertia switch which cuts off fuel supply in case of accidents preventing the vehicle from becoming a fire hazard. The electronic control module (ECM) ensures a fuel mapping that does not compromise fuel economy under various driving conditions. The Safari EXi's compact 5-link suspension design combined with large interior space and contoured seats offers the best ride in its class.
The Tata Safari EXi Petrol comes with host of technologically advanced safety features that are standard fitment including Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Front Air-bags for both the driver and the co-passenger, Adjustable front row Web Emergency Locking Retractor (WELR) seat-belts with pre-tensioners for the driver and co-passenger, an engine immobiliser on the remote key control that serves as an anti-theft device, anti submarine seats and demisters on the rear windscreen and side view mirrors.
The Blaupunkt Palm Beach head unit with a 5 component CD compatible music system, roof -mounted AC, lumbar support seats with rear arm rest, adequate storage space for personal effects, stylish interiors including a leather wrapped steering wheel, matt silver finish console and gear knob and body colored trimmings complete the look of the new Safari EXi Petrol.
Available in two stylish colors- Mica Black and Silver Mist, the 4X2 and 4X4 versions of the Tata Safari EXi Petrol are available across 128 dealerships across the country. With nearly 500 service outlets across 175 cities, the Company offers the second largest service network in the Industry.
Tata Safari EXi Petrol conforms to Bharat Stage II norms and carries an 18-month, unlimited kms warranty.
