FREE TAKE-BACK NETWORK FOR TATA MOTORS' ELVs - UNITED KINGDOM
Under the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) regulations in the UK, Tata Motors Ltd has contracted with a national ELV service provider called Cartakeback.com Ltd. to provide owners of qualifying Tata vehicles, who wish to dispose of their vehicle at the end of its life, with access to a network of Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs)
The Cartakeback network will provide last owners with a Certificate of Destruction, ensure environmentally sound depollution treatment of the vehicles, and meet the 2006-2014 national 85% recycling/recovery targets for ELVs. All Cartakeback ATF sites (approx 240) are environmentally licensed, and the network is approved by the Department for Trade and Industry for national accessibility and capacity levels throughout England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland.
Only licensed ATFs are authorised to issue Certificates of Destruction (CoD’s), and under further proposals for ensuring responsible disposal of ELVs, the COD may be required by the last owner to cease ongoing payment of annual Vehicle Excise Duty (car tax) for the vehicle being disposed of.
From the 1st January 2007, this take-back service will be free of charge for qualifying Tata vehicles delivered by the last owner to the Cartakeback ATF site. Qualification is as follows:
- The vehicle is a Tata Motors brand car, light pick-up, or utility vehicle less than 3.5 tonnes.
- The vehicle is complete, including engine, transmission, coachwork, wheels, and catalyst.
- The vehicle does not contain any additional household or industrial waste, additional tyres, oil cans, paint tins, etc.
- The vehicle is delivered by the last owner to a Tata Motors appointed ATF which will be part of the Cartakeback.com network. However, if necessary, Cartakeback can arrange collection from the vehicle’s location at reasonable charge to the last owner. (Check with Cartakeback for special arrangements in Scotland.)
- The last owner/keeper has the V5 registration document and two forms of proof of identity (Driving licence + household bill with current home address)
If you are in doubt, or it seems your vehicle doesn’t qualify, then please ring the Cartakeback number below to check. It is possible scrap economics will allow an exception to be made, or a reasonable deal struck.
