Pantnagar

The Tata Motors' plant at Pantnagar is the site where the best-selling Tata Ace - the mini one-tonne truck, and its variants are manufactured. The plant is a world-class project and spreads across 1,000 acres in Uttarakhand's State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCUL).

The Pantnagar plant has been built with state-of-the-art facilities and is a key enabler of Tata Motors' leadership in the mini-truck segment.

The plant has been designed to enhance speed and efficiency in manufacturing. It is the company's first plant with an integrated vendor park, which occupies 337 acres of the plant's total area. This helps keep inventory low and ensures 'just-in-time' (JIT) supplies. The 62 vendors based here account for nearly 70 percent of the items supplied to the plant.

The general office at Pantnagar is a gold-rated green building, a testament to the unit's efforts to reduce energy consumption and boost energy efficiency. The plant has an Integrated Management System (IMS) certification, which includes IATF: 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001.

Milestones

  • Production started in record time after acquisition of land (in just 11 months).
  • Received IMS certification within 18 months of commencement of operations.
  • Achieved 1 million ACE milestone in FY2011-12 and touched 2 Million vehicles in FY2018-19. Currently more than 2.3 Million vehicles are plying on Indian roads.
  • Inaugurated new frame shop in 2016 and renovated one weld shop to fully automatic line with state-of-art facility in 2019.
  • Introduced new product Intra V10, Intra V30, Ace Petrol, Ace Diesel, Magic Express in BSVI emission norms in FY2020-21.
  • Other than small commercial vehicle, plant has also manufactured Sumo, Safari and MHCV variant 3118.
  • Plant is having Zero Liquid Discharge, Zero Waste to Landfill, Installed 1MW of solar plant.
  • Plant is 100% compliant to plastic waste management rule. Drives to eliminate plastic in processes and products and no plastic above 50 microns used within plant premises.
