Trucks”R”Us – Indian Truck Signs

01 June, 2017

Indian truck graffiti can be a sub-culture all on its own! Here’s our pick of some of the funniest and most intriguing signs painted on Indian trucks…

The Funny Ones

Horn Ok Please: The government recently banned the use of "Horn Ok Please". In an endeavor to curb noise pollution, trucks now encourage you to use your dipper instead. The unfortunately spelt message "Use Diaper at Night" is certainly more forgiving to our ears than its predecessor. Need we say, funnier to our bones, too!

Dum hai toh cross kar, varna bardash kar: The literal translation being- "Overtake me, if you’ve got the guts, else wait your turn, like every other motorist!"

Main bada hokar truck banoonga: "When I grow up, I’m going to be a big truck." This one certainly wins points for dreaming big!

The Emotional Ones

Has mat pagli, pyaar ho jayega: We can’t decide if this one is meant as a note for the truck drivers or at those looking at it, but the translation is, "Don’t smile too much, or else I may fall in love with you!"

Samay se pehle bhagya se zyada kabhi nahi milta: Another great way to reinforce the importance of patience. The literal translation being, "All good things come to those who wait."
