GreenCo Rating System is an initiative by the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) which aims at becoming a catalyst for 'Greening' the Indian industry and facilitating India to become one of the global leaders in Green Businesses by 2022. The rating system is based on the evaluation of a company's performance on the ecological front and can help companies make their products, services, operations and supply chains greener. Recently, the 7th edition of the GreenCo Summit was held in Chennai to foster and promote sustainable models and further advance the need and importance of green enterprises in the Indian industry.
We are immensely proud to announce that Tata Motors' Sanand and Pantnagar plants bagged platinum certificates at the summit. Our plant operations were evaluated on ten environmental parameters - Water Management, Water Conservation, Energy Efficiency, Green Supply Chain, Life Cycle Assessment, GHG mitigation, Product Stewardship, Material Conservation, Recycling and Recyclability, Renewable Energy and others.
Plaudits won by the Sanand Plant
Our young team at the Sanand plant were commended by GreenCo for taking meticulous measures such as transferring 94 percent of hazardous waste to cement companies for co-processing (as a fuel), re-consuming around 30 percent of renewable energy, reducing greenhouse emissions and water consumption by a significant level and for overseeing tree plantation and water conservation activities for different communities.
Accolades won by the Pantnagar Plant
GreenCo also applauded that our Pantnagar Plant met global standards when it came to parameters like Waste Management and Life Cycle Assessment, noticing an overall improvement in scores as compared previous years. The Pantnagar team was also praised for its active participation in efforts to make our environment a sustainable one.
Here's what Mr. Satish Borwankar - Chief Operating Officer, Tata Motors had to say "Tata Motors is immensely proud of both teams which displayed exceptional leadership skills, innovation and a solid commitment towards the 'Go Green' project.
