The lockdown has unlocked a craft and skill which I have been passionate about for over 30 years. As one goes through life, higher education, jobs in multiple geographies, that passion remains, but the time to pursue it, somehow totally disappears.
Over the 14 or so weekends during this lockdown, I have managed to revive my interest in making 1:72 scale, model aircraft from kits. While my eye sight seems to have deteriorated over the years, I am happy to report that my interest and love for these World War 2 'War Birds' has not! The patience, resilience, and attention to detail has taught me a lot. Of course the use of one's hands to create something is always satisfying in a rapidly de-materialising world!
I have also, through these models been able to appreciate the design philosophy behind all these aircraft from over 70-80 years ago! All so different according to their operating parameters.
So at least one positive to come out of these difficult times!
