23 Tata Motors vehicles will accompany officials and baton runners of the relay
Tata Motors today announced that it is the Official Vehicle Provider to the Youth Baton Relay which is part of the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008 (CYG). The Relay, starting from New Delhi University North Campus on August 1, 2008, will involve thousands of youth and cover 8000 kms from Delhi to Pune. 23 Tata Motors vehicles, which include Sumo Grande, Safari, Winger, Magic, 207 DI, and 407 SS, will accompany the entourage.
One of the vehicles provided by Tata Motors has been developed as a ‘Special Green Vehicle’ (SFC 407) that will continuously collect refuse from the relay. This will be processed into manure to be used for planting saplings on the route.

3rd Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008
The III Commonwealth Youth Games will be held in Pune from the 12th to 18th October 2008. These are the first ever Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in Asia. It is for the first time in the history of the Commonwealth Youth Games that all 71 Commonwealth nations with over 1,300 athletes under the age of 18 and 350 officials will participate in these games, competing in 9 disciplines – Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling. The venue of the III Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008, Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City, Balewadi, is unique as it is for the first time that the competition venues of all disciplines and the athletes’ village will be housed in a single sports complex.
