India’s largest Commercial Vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors has joined Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and fans across the country to wish ‘GOLD LUCK’ to the Indian Wrestling Yodhas taking part in the Jakarta and Palembang Asian Games, beginning from August 18.

Tata Motors today hosted a vibrant and a powerful send-off ceremony for the Indian wrestlers ahead of the Asian Games, wishing them to bring back the yellow metal. As the principal sponsors of WFI, Tata Motors have taken the campaign far and wide, motivating the grapplers to put up a grand show on the mats of Jakarta. Stars of Indian wrestling including Sandeep Tomar, Bajrang Punia, Pawan Kumar, Hardeep Singh along with Sakshi Malik, Pooja Dhanda and Vinesh Phogat amongst others graced the event with their presence.

As a part of this historic partnership, Tata Motors will support top performing 50 wrestlers (both men and women), across categories, on both domestic and international circuit. Wishing ‘GOLD LUCK INDIA’ to the wrestlers on behalf of TATA Motors for the tournament, Mr. Girish Wagh, President – Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “Wrestling is not just a sport of strength, but also of courage. I feel proud of all the wrestlers who have achieved such great heights overcoming various challenges along the way.  “Wrestling has always given us a good number of medals from all Games. We are expecting our grapplers to make us proud once again. I am sure they will have a better harvest this time at Jakarta than they did at Incheon Games, four years ago. All my WFI team of officials and I wish them good luck,” said Brij Bhushan Singh, president of WFI

Vinesh Phogat, who will be competing in 50 kg class at Jakarta, was optimistic of a better showing. “I hope I will be able to better my previous best at the Asiad. The competition will be tough but my aim would be to win gold,” said Vinesh, who finished with a bronze at Incheon.

Rio Games bronze medallist Sakshi Malik who will make her maiden appearance along with Vinesh, will spearhead the women campaign at Jakarta, was very hopeful that she would make a podium finish. “I am prepared well for the Games and expect to come home with a medal around my neck,” she said.
