As a part of Tata Volunteering Week Edition 12, Tata Motors Lucknow conducted an awareness rally on 2nd October to spread awareness and sensitize citizens on the importance of waste segregation and quit single use plastic. Led by the team of Tata Motors Lucknow plant, the event received an overwhelming participation of nearly 650 Tata employees and their family members, representing various Tata Group Companies such as TCS, Taj, Westside, Landmark, Titan, Tata Marcopolo, and Tata AutoComp Systems Group,
The cycling rally started and culminated at Taj Hotel and covered important landmarks of the city, including 1090 Chauraha and Samta Mulak Chowk. During the rally, these cycling enthusiasts were encouraging and educating Lucknowites to keep the city neat, clean and green by quitting single use plastic and doing a proper segregation of waste. Another group of employees and their family members who took part in the Walkathon, joined hands to clean certain parts of the city streets, which are often found unclean. They displayed placards and were provided with engaging slogans to prompt the cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pramod Choudhary, Plant Head – Tata Motors Lucknow said, “India generates tons of plastic waste every year. Mounting heaps of plastic that can’t be disposed, has forced governments of various states to impose a ban on the material. And, being an automotive company that has India’s interests at heart, Tata Motors decided to support this decision whole-heartedly. As a responsible corporate, Tata Motors have championed several projects and initiatives that have helped create a positive impact on the society that we live in. Our awareness rally is just another way to reinforce our commitment to promote clean, green and healthy environment. Through this event, we urge the citizens of Lucknow to keep your localities clean and to contribute to the national developmental agenda “Swachhta Hi Sewa”.
